This petrified wood was locally found in the high deserts of New Mexico. This particular nodule has a unique combination of colors on one side of the stone, and woody bark grain on the other side. The areas of translucence give it a special quality that can't be found in most raw stones. Convineintly sized and naturally smoothed, this petrified wood would make a great gift, or addition to any rock and mineral collection just as the way it is.
